Admission Scholarships | The Chinese University of Hong Kong | Undergraduate Program

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUKH) offers a range of admission scholarships to both local and non-local new undergraduate students, awarded based on exceptional academic or non-academic achievements. There is no separate application process; the university will identify eligible students and inform them of their scholarship offers.

Scholarship Details

  • Scholarship Value: Ranges from HK$5,000 to full tuition coverage.
  • Renewability: Many scholarships are renewable for the normative period of the study program, subject to satisfactory academic progress.
  • Additional Allowance: Some scholarships include an annual allowance of up to HK$45,000.

 

Eligibility Criteria

General Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications by September 1st of the admission year:

  1. High School Qualifications:

    • GCE-AL / International-AL: 3AL passes or 2AL+2AS passes, with specific subject requirements for different programs.
    • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.
    • Other recognized non-local qualifications (e.g., SAT/ACT and AP Tests in the USA, UEC/STPM in Malaysia, ATAR in Australia, etc.).

  2. Post-secondary Qualifications:

    • Completion of at least one year of undergraduate study at a recognized university.
    • Completion of at least one year of study towards an associate degree/higher diploma or equivalent.
  3. Mature Applicants:

    • Aged 23 or above, demonstrating competence in a chosen field of study or exceptional ability in academic or professional fields.
  4. Exceptional Achievements:

    • Other notable achievements that merit admission.

 

Language Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English. The minimum required scores for common English language tests are:

  • IELTS: Overall Band Score of 6.0
  • TOEFL (iBT): Total Score of 80
  • SAT: 590 in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing
  • ACT: 23 in English Language Arts (ELA)
  • GCSE / IGCSE / GCE-OL: Grade C / Grade 4

Selection Process

Applicants are evaluated based on their educational background, academic achievements, and non-academic accomplishments. Those invited for an interview will also be assessed based on their interview performance.
