Jardine Foundation Scholarship Details

The Jardine Foundation offers scholarships for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. The program is designed to provide full financial support, covering tuition fees, living expenses, and travel costs, to students from select countries in Asia.

 

Undergraduate – Oxford and Cambridge Scheme

The undergraduate scholarship scheme is offered in partnership with several colleges at Oxford and Cambridge:

  • University of Cambridge: Downing, Magdalene, Peterhouse, Trinity
  • University of Oxford: Exeter, Oriel, The Queen’s, Trinity

Students can apply for any course available at the partnered colleges. Applications for the undergraduate scheme open on 14th August 2023, with a submission deadline on 20th October 2023. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive funding for the duration of their course, including tuition, college fees, living expenses, and travel costs.

 

Postgraduate – Oxford and Cambridge Scheme

The Jardine Foundation also offers scholarships for postgraduate studies (Masters and PhD programs). Eligible applicants must have received provisional acceptance from either the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge and must be residents at one of the Foundation’s partnered colleges. Postgraduate scholarships are tenable for up to four years and cover full-time study at these prestigious institutions.

 

General Information

  1. Eligibility:

    • Applicants must apply through one of the partnered colleges.
    • Candidates must be nationals or long-term residents (at least 7 years) of the eligible countries listed above.
    • Applicants should be in the early stages of their career.
    • Candidates must be in satisfactory health.
  2. Selection Criteria:
    Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, leadership qualities, and community involvement. The selection committee will consider personal character, leadership and fellowship qualities, and the applicant’s potential to contribute to society and public service.

  3. Scholarship Value:
    The Jardine Foundation Scholarship covers:

    • University tuition fees
    • College fees
    • An annual stipend for living expenses
    • UK Immigration Health Surcharge
    • Standard economy class airfare from the scholar’s place of residence to the UK and return after the completion of the scholarship period

How to Apply – Undergraduate Scheme

Applications for the Jardine Scholarships for undergraduate studies at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge will open on 14th August. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the “Apply” on the official scholarship website.

Required Documentation:

  1. Personal Statement: A detailed essay outlining the applicant’s goals, aspirations, post-graduation plans, and involvement in extracurricular activities, including sports and community service.

  2. Recent Photograph: A passport-sized photograph of the applicant.

  3. UCAS Application Form: A copy of the completed UCAS application form.

  4. Academic Transcripts: Copies of academic records, including GCSE, A/AS Level, IB, or equivalent qualifications, depending on the examination system in the applicant’s home country. This may include certificates like HKDSE, SPM, STPM, or SKHU, as applicable.

  5. Testimonial from School Principal or University Counselor: A letter of recommendation that includes:

    • The applicant’s achieved or predicted academic results.
    • Remarks to assist the Scholarship Committee in evaluating the applicant.
    • Any additional relevant information to support the application.

    If the testimonial is submitted directly from the secondary school, an email will be sent to the principal or referee requesting a reference letter and information about any pending qualifications or predicted grades. Applicants must provide the name and contact details of their principal or referee in the application form.
