This Certificate Program in Development Studies & Social Research emphasizes enhancing social research skills through the application of cutting-edge social science theories. Participants will explore critical development issues, such as land governance, environmental challenges, inequality, and the impact of regional and transnational dynamics on local communities. Trainer Profile
- Lead Trainer: Dr. Mike Griffiths, Research Director at SPPRG and Research Associate at the University of Hull. Dr. Griffiths has over 15 years of experience teaching and conducting research in Myanmar and leads the program’s development and delivery.
Flexible Online Learning
The program is designed for students with busy or irregular schedules, making it accessible even for those with unreliable internet connections. Instructors engage students through live online sessions and other communication channels. The program is accredited by Chiang Mai University, with earned credits applicable toward a Master’s degree in Social Sciences.
Course Structure
- Modules: Seven taught modules covering lectures, group discussions, and guided assignments.
- Medium of Instruction: Core readings in English; lectures and discussions in Burmese.
- Teaching Hours: Each module includes 45 hours of instruction and assignments.
- Trainers: Dr. Mike Griffiths brings extensive experience in both teaching and research in Myanmar.
Scholarship Support
Scholarship funding is available to support Myanmar students through the following options:
- Partial Support: Requires 20% self-funding (approximately 6,600 THB).
- Full Scholarship: Covers the entire cost of the program (approximately 18,600 THB).
