The DAAD scholarship program aims to support young academics and future professionals from developing and emerging countries. This scholarship allows them to pursue a Master’s degree in STEM fields (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and engineering) in Germany, enhancing their qualifications and employability.
Who Can Apply?
- High-achieving students from developing and emerging countries.
- Applicants must have a first degree recognized in Germany (e.g., Bachelor’s degree) by the application deadline.
- Those already holding a Master’s degree are ineligible.
What Can Be Funded?
- A full-time, on-campus Master’s degree at a state or state-recognized university in Germany in a STEM field.
- The degree program must be tuition-free and have a designated STEM focus.
Duration of Funding
- Funding is provided for 10 to 24 months, depending on the standard period of study.
- The scholarship typically starts on 1st October of the following year, or earlier if a German language course is taken beforehand.
- Academic performance will be assessed after the first year to determine the continuation of the scholarship.
Scholarship Benefits
- Monthly payments of 934 euros
- Payments towards health, accident, and personal liability insurance

- Annual study allowance of 460 euros

Selection Criteria

- Potential of the Applicant: Motivation, significance of the stay in Germany, extracurricular commitment, and prospects for future development.
Application Requirements
- University degree should be within the last 6 years.
- Must meet the admission requirements for a Master’s degree in Germany.
- Must apply to a German university and submit admission confirmation before the funding period begins.
- Cannot have been a resident in Germany for more than 15 months at the application deadline.
- Above-average academic performance.
- Language proficiency (B1 level in German or English, depending on the program’s instruction language).
